Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday evening accused the BJP of distributing money a day before voting during Palghar bypolls. The Sena chief said the same while addressing a press conference post the results of Palghar 2018 Lok Sabha by-elections in Maharashtra.

The Sena chief, claiming discrepancies during the counting of votes in Palghar, where the BJP won the seat, said, “Even during the day of voting, some people were caught distributing money to voters. Politicians were held up at police stations but no news publications covered this news. The men who were caught giving bribe, had mentioned few names of BJP leaders but even that wasn’t taken into cognizance. The BJP workers were openly indulging in unfair practices.”

Thackeray suggested that even election commissioners should be elected rather than being appointed, considering the corruption in Election Commission. He claimed that there were some discrepancies in the counting process and hence appealed that the election results should be announced only after the discrepancies are sorted out.
