Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Pandurang Fundkar dies of cardiac arrest

    Maharashtra Agriculture Minister and three-term MP Pandurang Fundkar, 67, died of a cardiac arrest today (on Thursday, May 31) at 4:35 am.

    Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Pandurang Fundkar, 67, died of a cardiac arrest today (on Thursday, May 31) at 4:35 am. He is survived by wife Suneeta, two sons and a daughter. Fundkar, who was a diabetic, was admitted in KJ Somaiya Hospital in Mumbai since two days. Doctors tried to revive him but couldn’t save him.

    Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid tribute to Fundkar at BJP’s office in Maharashtra by saying that he was saddened and shocked to learn about the veteran’s demise. He further said that Fundkar was a senior colleague and a senior leader, who had immense knowledge about agriculture.

    Fundkar, who was a three-term MP and the former president of Maharashtra’s BJP unit, was inducted in the Fadnavis led government in July 2016.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered his condolences on Twitter. He wrote, “Saddened by the demise of Maharashtra’s Agriculture Minister Shri Pandurang Fundkar. He made an invaluable contribution towards building the BJP in Maharashtra. He was also at the forefront of serving the farmers of the state. My thoughts are with his family and supporter.”
