After giving MNCs a run for their money in the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) sector, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali entered the telecom sector on Sunday. At an event, Baba Ramdev launched the Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM cards in alliance with BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited).

As of now, the SIM cards will only be available for Patanjali employees and office bearers. After a full-fledged launch, the SIM card will be made available for people at large, who will be able to get 10 % discount on Patanjali products with the card.

The Swadeshi SIM card will benefit people in ways more than one. On a recharge of just Rs 144, a customer would be able to make unlimited calls across India, would get 2 GB data and would be able to send 100 SMSs per day. Apart from this, customers will also get health, accidental and life insurances. A customer would get medical and life insurance covers of Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh respectively. The covers, however, could only be availed in the case of road accidents.

Speaking at the launch of SIM card, Baba Ramdev, said that the government-owned BSNL is a Swadeshi network and both BSNL and Patanjali want the welfare of the country. “There are five lakh counters of BSNL and from there people can soon get Patanjali Swadeshi Samriddhi card,” said Baba Ramdev.
