A special court on Friday issued a non-bailable warrant against the wife of fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi, Ami Modi.
Few days ago, Special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Judge MS Azmi issued the warrant against Ami Modi after he took cognisance of the supplementary charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Nirav Modi.
The financial crime probe agency accused Ami of using an international bank account to move USD 30 million. According to the ED, the same funds were used to buy prime property in New York’s Central Park.
As per reports, Modi is currently residing in a three-bedroom flat that occupies half the floor of the landmark Centre Point tower block in London. The rent of the same is estimated to be around 17 lacs per month.
Nirav, who’s the key accused in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case, along with his uncle Mehul Choksi, allegedly cheated PNB to the tune of Rs 14,000 crores.
