Politicians, Bollywood celebs mourn Sushant Singh Rajput’s death; PM Modi says ‘gone too soon’

As actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to mourn the death of the actor. PM Modi expressed shock on Sushant’s demise saying that he was a bright young actor gone too soon.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal too expressed his shock as he wrote that Sushant’s performances in films and on television will always be remembered.

Sushant was found dead at his residence located in Bandra (West) in Mumbai on Sunday (June 14). The actor’s team shared a message for his fans which read” “It pains us to share that Sushant Singh Rajput is no longer with us. We request his fans to keep him in their thoughts and celebrate his life, and his work like they have done so far. We request media to help us maintain privacy at this moment of grief.”

Sushant had his first brush with success with Ekta Kapoor’s TV show Pavitra Rishta alongside Ankita Lokhande. After receiving fame and appreciation for his standout acting skills, Rajput quit TV industry in October 2011 to pursue a career in Bollywood. He then made his debut in 2013 with the movie Kai Po Che!

A couple of days ago, Sushant’s former manager Disha Salian died after falling off a high-rise in Mumbai’s Malad. Initially reported as a case of suicide, the police then registered the case of accidental death. Offering condolences to Disha’s family, Sushant had written: “It’s such a devastating news. My deepest condolences to Disha’s family and friends. May your soul rest in peace.”
