President Ram Nath Kovind signed the proclamation for imposition of central rule in Maharashtra after Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s recommendation amidst political deadlock as uncertainty prevailed in the state over the formation of government.

The Shiv Sena today approached the Supreme Court (SC). Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray spoke to SC lawyer Kapil Sibal. “We will file a second petition today itself if the President’s rule is imposed in the state,” Advocate Sunil Fernandes, who filed the first petition on behalf of Shiv Sena, told PTI.

Governor on Monday had extended time limit for the NCP (till 8.30pm on Tuesday) to prove that Shiv Sena has the numbers after NCP and Congress failed to submit their respective letters of support before the deadline set by the Governor.

The Gazette Notification is expected shortly.
