Mayor, Corporators stress upon the importance of rainwater harvesting in Nagpur

Ramdaspeth Plot Owners and Residents Association, on Sunday, organised a – Rainwater Harvesting Program at Dagdi Park, Nagpur – to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of rainwater harvesting. Along with Nagpur Mayor Nanda Jichkar, who was the chief guest at this program, also present at the event were corporators Rupa Rai, Sanjay Bangale, Nishant Gandhi, Vijay Zalke (Chairman, NMC Water Works Consultative Committee), Secretary of the association Julfesh Shah and Hemant Kharabe (PI, Sitabuldi).

At the program, experts from the field of rainwater harvesting spoke about the importance of it and how the society can benefit from it. Speaking on the lines of the same and complimenting the organisers for conducting the program, Nagpur Mayor Nanda Jichkar said, “Awareness programs like these should be conducted not only in Ramdaspeth but also in every areas of Nagpur.” Jichkar also informed that adapting to rainwater harvesting technology can result in concession in the property tax paid by citizens. As Julfesh Shah took to the stage, he thanked Prakash Soni for helping the association to conduct the program.

An unfortunate incident took place after Jichkar finished her address as she accidently fell while taking her seat back on the dais. Unaffected by the incident, Jichkar stood up, smiled at the people present and took to the dais even as people rushed to help her.
