Ranbir Kapoor’s grandmother Krishna Raj Kapoor (88) passed away at due to a cardiac arrest at 5 am on Monday morning. Wife of legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor, Krishna was born on December 30, 1930. According to several reports, she had been complaining of breathlessness over the past couple of years.
“My mother passed away at about 5 am today due to cardiac arrest…old age was another factor. We are deeply saddened by her demise,” son Randhir told PTI.
Granddaughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, sister of Ranbir Kapoor on her Instagram wrote, “Love you so much RIP.”
Raveena Tandon took to twitter and wrote, “Condolences to the entire Kapoor family. An era passes away,#KrishnaRajKapoor .God give you strength,and may the soul rest in peace. Om Shanti. @chintskap”
Suhel Seth wrote, “Deeply saddened to learn the passing on of Krishna Raj Kapoor ji. A formidable woman, the Kapoor Khandaan anchor and an amazing human being. @chintskap @realnikhilnanda.”
Krishna married Raj Kapoor in May 1946 and is survived by actor Rishi, Randhir, Rajiv, Ritu Nanda and Reema Kapoor. Her last rites will be performed at Chembur crematorium, Randhir said.
