Robbers steal Rs 12.56 lakh from Gurudev Nagar Petrol Pump, kill security guard

Unidentified thieves, in the wee hours on Sunday, looted Rs 12.56 lakh from the owner’s cabin at a petrol pump (Panchasheel Automobiles) in Gurudev Nagar, New Nandanvan, Nagpur. The robbers, during the robbery, stabbed the security guard with an axe thereby killing him. The guard in his eighties was reportedly working at the petrol pump from the last 15 years. The thieves while fleeing the scene also took the digital video recorder (DVR) of the surveillance camera.

The incident came to light when on Monday morning, the employees at the petrol pump arrived and discovered Noor Khan lying in a pool of blood. The petrol pump’s owner Mustafa Hasanjee and Nandanvan Police was then immediately informed. ACP Shyam Dighavkar, DCP Nilesh Bharne (Zone IV) and DCP Sambhaji Kadam (Crime) reached the spot immediately and started the investigation.

As per a report in a daily, Nandanvan Police has taken Santosh Chauhan, a former employee at the petrol pump, in custody for planning the robbery along with several youngsters.
