Staging a unique protest, Congress corporator Bunty Shelke along with members of Youth Congress slammed Nagpur Metro and its utility. Shelke did the same while commuting on a nine-kilometer stretch from Munje Chowk’s Sitaburdi Interchange Station to Khapri Station. Shelke said that around Rs 10,000 crore were spent on Nagpur Metro, which is now running sluggish and empty.

Tauseef Khan, President, Nagpur Youth Congress told Nation Next, “Metro project is proving to be a waste of public money as the general public is not using it because of its inefficiency and redundancy. If enough revenue is not generated, the public will pay the losses incurred in the form of increased taxes.

Abhishek Dhawad from Youth Congress, said, “Retrospectively, 9000 crores could’ve been spent on providing basic infrastructure and better amenities in the city. The metro project that was constructed without due study will only increase the tax burden on citizens in the coming years.”

Rohit Khairwar, Akshay Ghatole, Akhilesh Rajan, Swapnil Dhoke, Wasim Sheikh, Akash Gujar, Nikhil Kapse, Sheikh Azhar, Sagar Chavan, etc., were some of the protesters present in the metro.
