It was earlier said that Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh would be inaugurating Nagpur’s Sadar flyover on January 2, 2020 in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Mayor Sandip Joshi, Cabinet Minister for Maharashtra Dr Nitin Raut, and other MLAs. But Project Engineer at National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Abhijeet Jichkar told Nation Next that Singh would be arriving in the city on January 2 and the inauguration would be held on 5th of the same month. However, he said nothing has been confirmed till yet.
Commuters will heave a major sigh of relief once the much-awaited flyover is complete, as it would ease off traffic in Sadar and Chhaoni. The flyover that would begin near Reserve Bank of India would have two different landings – Katol Road and the second one near Pagalkhana Chowk – thus reducing the travel time of around 20-25 minutes to a mere three to four minutes for commuters.
As per Jichkar, the flyover that covers a stretch of 3.98 kms was constructed at a cost of Rs 218 crore.
