Senior Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam in a tweet on Saturday compared Karnatak Governor Vajubhai Vala’s loyalty to that of a dog. He even said that every Indian would name their dogs after Vala. However, Nirupam decided to delete the tweet after facing backlash on social media.

Nirupam later tweeted an apology by writing, “Vajubhai Vala is a human. How can I call him a dog. But yes, he has left behind even dogs in terms of showing loyalty. However, if my statement was not liked, I apologise,”

Vala was criticised by the Congress after the Karnataka assembly elections as he gave BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa a time frame of 15 days to prove majority despite Yeddyurappa asking for a week’s time only.
