Sanjeev Pendharkar (Director, VICCO Laboratories) was felicitated with Mumbai Heroes Award on February 3, 2019, at the Humanity First Conclave hosted by Blossom India at The Emperor, NSCI, Worli in Mumbai. Pendharkar received the award from Consul General Edgard D Kagan (US Consulate, Mumbai).
Humanity First Conclave was organised with the sole objective of promoting Interfaith Harmony. The dazzling event showcased the most prominent personalities, which included India’s leading businessmen, the representatives of the government of India and social workers representing various faiths.
The conclave which was based on the theme of ‘Love God, Love Neighbors’ translated as ‘Mazhab Nahi Sikhata Apas Mai Bair Rakhna’ aimed at carrying forward the message of harmony, tolerance and interfaith understanding on a grand scale. The event also embodied a poetry session ‘Jashne Mohabbat.’
The conclave was followed by an award ceremony. The Mumbai Heroes Award is a recognition towards the efforts of all visionaries from different faiths who have worked hard to bring a massive positive change in the society in myriad of areas, particularly education, healthcare and environment.
Prominently present during the occasion were Hemant Gupta (CEO, Bombay Stock Exchange), Sarfraz Arzee, Atika Farooqui (Entertainment anchor, Colors TV), Siddiqullah Chowdhury (MLA from West Bengal), Dr PS Pasrich (Ex-DGP of Maharashtra), Oswald Cardinal Gracias (Archbishop of Bombay), Dr Acharya Mithlesh (Arya Samaj, Mumbai), Guru Yezdi Panthaki (Parsi Priest), Dr Bhadant Rahul Bodhi (United Buddhist Mission), Mr Qaisar Khalid (IPS Officer and an Urdu poet), Atul Agrawal (Trustee, MCHI), Parwez Farid (Ummeed Foundation), among others.
Pendharkar, who is known for his social commitments and philanthropy, was welcomed with a warm applause. Addressing the gathering after receiving the award, Pendharkar said, “I feel humbled to know that Mumbaikars deem me fit enough to be prized with this prestigious award of Mumbai Hero. This appreciation and love of Mumbai people gives immense credibility to all our efforts that we put in, both on an individual level and as VICCO, and it further strengthens our commitment towards achieving our vision of a healthier and wholesome society.”
Pendharkar added, “This award is reflective of our dedication towards making this world, disease-free by amalgamating scientific approach with Ayurveda. At VICCO, our mission has always been to cater to the well-being of society and making a significant difference in their quality of lives. Needless to say, our engagement with the campaigns and entities, with a cause dedicated to the welfare of people will keep perpetuating.”
Extending his thanks to Blossom India for organizing the event, he further said, “I hope, initiatives like these act as a boost and driving change at an individual level where every person feels responsible enough to volunteer for social causes by doing his/her bit. As I always say, it’s the intent that matters and not the size or magnitude of contribution.”
