Former Union Minister from Congress Salman Khurshid on Tuesday said that there’s a lot of Muslim blood on Congress’ hands. Khurshid, who was addressing students at an event in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), made the remarks as a former student asked him how the Congress party would wash off its hands, which has Muslim blood on it.

The former student asked Khurshid about the series of communal riots that took place when Congress was in power.

Khurshid, according to ANI, said, “I am a part of Congress so let me accept that we have the blood of Muslims on our hands. I am telling you this; we are ready to show the blood on our hands so that you understand that you too must not get blood on your hands. If you attack them, you are the ones who would get stains on your hands. Learn something from our history and don’t create such situation for yourself where if you come back to AMU after 10 years you will find one like you to ask the question,” he added.”

Though there was a certain section that praised Khurshid for his honesty, some criticized him. He later clarified his statement by saying that he’s not a representative of Congress party rather he is the Congress party. He also said that he in fact defended by Congress party and would continue to do so and that the comment was made as a human being.

The BJP was quick to respond.
