Shiv Sena would be fielding son of former Congress minister Satish Chaturvedi and Shiv Sena leader Dushyant Chaturvedi for Yavatmal Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) elections due on January 31, 2020. The election, which would be held between 8 am to 4 pm, is also being touted as a one-sided affair as the Maha Vikas Aghadi enjoys a good majority in Yavatmal. The polling would be held through a secret ballot at Bachat Bhavan in Yavatmal and results would be declared immediately.

Shiv Sena MLC Tanaji Sawant, who resigned from the post of MLC, was earlier a cabinet minister in the Devendra Fadnavis government. Sawant invited trouble after he openly supported BJP in the recent Zilla Parishad elections after being upset for not getting a cabinet berth in the Maha Vikas Aghadi.
