Former Maharashtra Advocate General Shreehari Aney in a unique protest called – Raktkranti Andolan – sent a letter to PM Narendra Modi with the signatures of 10,000 people with their blood, demanding a separate Vidarbha state. “The BJP had promised that it would create a separate state of Vidarbha. So, we are sending letters signed with our blood to the PM as only he is capable of taking a decision. BJP should fulfill its promise of separate Vidarbha,” said Aney.

Speaking about resorting to violence, he said, “We will never follow Telangana’s footsteps of achieving a separate state as it lost 1500 youngsters. However, if we are attacked while demanding a separate state, then we would resort to violence!”

Aney had to resign in March 2016, when he was barely six months in office, after he advocated the need for a separate Vidarbha.
