Smruti Cinema, which was closed down on August 30 last year, will be relaunched as Buty Cineplex on March 19, 2019, at Sadar in Nagpur. Smruti Cinema, which was operational for more than 30 years, was closed down after land owner Vikram Buty took back the possession of the one acre plot (comprising of the cinema and the premises) at Residency Road in Sadar.

Tomorrow, on March 19, to mark the opening of Buty Cineplex, a special screening of Uri: The Surgical Strike has been kept for around 150 underprivileged kids. These kids will watch the movie on 12 pm. Then in the evening from 6 pm to 9 pm, a screening of the same movie will be held for friends and relatives of the Buty family. Similar screenings will also be held on March 20.

On March 21, Buty Cineplex will officially start its business with Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Kesari. Three shows of the movie will be held at the cineplex.

Speaking to Nation Next, Vikram Buty’s son Rohit Buty said, “There’s so much violence, which is happening up north in our country right now. Keeping that in mind, we wanted to start the journey of Buty Cineplex on a patriotic note. That’s why we chose Uri: The Surgical Strike as the first movie to be screened at our cineplex. Speaking about the future plans, Rohit added, “Buty Cineplex will not just be run as a typical theatre. We plan and hope to a lot of different cultural activities at Buty Cineplex in the future.”
