Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to demonetise Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes on November 8, 2016, may have ruffled a lot of feathers in the opposition but it has also found support from a lot of Indians. And it is because of this perhaps, that a 26-year-old Nagpur amateur singer, Prashant Jha, has penned down a song inspired by PM Modi’s demonetisation scheme!
While, the song ‘Gora Kaala Dhan’ has been penned down by Prashant, his friends – Daya Dehariya, Siyaram, Prashant, Rahul Dongarwar, KShipra Bhat, Deepali Shambharkar and S Rewatkar have helped him with editing, mixing and various other aspects related to the song. Speaking about the song, Prashant says, “This song has been inspired from the demonetisation scheme. Since so many years, people with a lot of money have had all the power. This scheme, I feel, has made a power shift and even the middle class and the lower class feels powerful now. It is clear that nothing is stable, no matter how much money you have, anything can happen to you! So it’s better not to get into something illegal.”
Interestingly, another reason why Prashant has written this song is to promote betterment of farmers and highlight the importance of food production in the country. He says, “Since independence, farmers have always suffered. I want to convey that, no matter what kind of problem we are in, we just want food two times a day to survive. You can’t eat money! So, we should support our farmers and food production in India.”
One cannot help but wonder if Prashant is a Modi supporter; ask him this and he’s quick to reply, “I don’t support any party! I just want progress like most youngsters want. If I would have seen the same thing in a film, I would have supported it. If it’s happening in reality, there’s no reason for me not to support it!”
