NEW DELHI: In a rare expression by any Opposition, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi today appreciated Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in Lok Sabha for his ‘wonderful’ work towards improving the country’s infrastructure.

Gadkari, during the Question Hour session in the House, gave a detailed account of his work that he and his ministry had undertaken for the betterment of the country. He said, “I must say here that all MPs, across political affiliations, have been appreciating me for the work done by me and my ministry in their respective constituencies.”

When Gadkari received a thunderous response for his answers in the House, BJP MLA from Madhya Pradesh Ganesh Singh stood up and told Speaker Sumitra Mahajan that the House must appreciate all the ‘wonderful’ work done by Gadkari.

Sonia Gandhi, who was often seen nodding at Gadkari’s answers, smiled and started thumping the desk as a sign of appreciation. Following suit, several Congress MPs including Mallikarjun Kharge, too started thumping the desks to laud Gadakri’s work.
