Steve Smith, David Warner banned for a year by Cricket Australia

Cricket Australia, Wednesday, handed 12-month bans to former Australian captain Steve Smith and Vice-captain David Warner.

Cricket Australia (CA), Wednesday, came down heavily on former Australian captain Steve Smith and Vice-captain David Warner as it handed 12-month bans to both the cricketers for their involvement in ball-tampering during the third test match against South Africa at Cape Town. Cameron Bancroft, who was caught on camera applying sand paper on the ball and the hiding the tape in his pants, was banned for nine months.

Following, CA’s ban on the cricketers, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also barred Smith and Warner from participating in Indian Premier League 2018, which will kick start in April. IPL commissioner Rajiv Shukla told the reporters that franchises owing Smith and Warner will get replacements as both the players will not be allowed to play this year in IPL.
