People belonging to sub-castes of Kunbi community across Vidarbha came under one roof at the ‘Sarva Shakhiya Kunbi Mahamelawa’ held on February 24 at Dhanwate National College in Nagpur. The conclave aimed at uniting all the sub-castes of Kunbi community in Vidarbha to discuss the problems faced by the people of the community.

In a rare display, politicians and leaders from different political parties came together at the conclave. Another rare thing about the conclave was that these politicians were seated off the dais, while the dais was occupied by members of Kunbi community across Vidarbha. These members included: Purshottam Shahane Patil, Ramesh Chopde, Suresh Varse, Suresh Gudadhe, Dattatray Nimbarte, Dilip Khodke, Ashok Nikhade, Zakir Sheikh and presidents of all sub-castes.

Speaking to Nation Next, Congress leader Ashok Dhawad said, “This conclave is organised to not only display the problems faced by socially backward classes of Kunbi Samaj in front of the government but to also discuss these problems and find solutions.”
