Ankit Tiwari, Waheeda Rehman attend Sur Jyotsna National Music Awards in Nagpur

Playback singer and music director Ankit Tiwari came calling to Nagpur recently to perform at the Sur Jyotsna National Music Awards (SJNMA) 2018 organised by the Lokmat Group and held at Divisional Sports Complex. Along with Tiwari, the award function was attended Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Rural Development Minister Pankaja Munde, yesteryear actress Waheeda Rehman, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, singer Roop Kumar Rathod, a bunch of top politicians and hundreds of Nagpurians. 

Welcoming all the people along with his family was ex Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Darda (CMD, Lokmat). Sur Jyotsna awards are held every year in the memory of Vijay Darda’s late wife Jyotsna Darda. The awards are held to recognize and honour young talent in Indian classical and popular music.

Taking to the stage, Tiwari left no stone unturned to entertain his fans as he sung his popular songs one after the other. The ‘Sunn Raha Hain’ singer was accompanied to the award function by his wife Pallavi, with whom he tied the knot recently. Tiwari, while speaking to his fans, acknowledged that it was the first time after his marriage that he was performing in front of his wife. It was a treat for everybody present when actress Waheeda Rehman shared her film journey in a specially conducted interview.

Among those who were recognized for their talent included the Brijwasi Brothers (Hemant, Ajay, Hoshiyar and Chetan) and the melodious singer Anjali Gaikwad. The winners were awarded with a prize of Rs one lakh each.
