At the trailer launch of Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon’s upcoming movie Raabta, Sushant while answering various questions about his movie, got into an argument with a senior journalist. The altercation took place when the journalist asked a question about Kulbhushan Jadhav, the former Indian naval officer who has been sentenced to death by the Pakistan military court for alleged spying.
While the Raabta team tried to intervene and responded saying that it was not the right platform to comment on national topics like these, when pushed by the journalist, Sushant said, “I think somebody should not give his or her opinion if they are not well informed about the topic. It’s a sensitive thing. You need to be very well informed. Please allow me some time.” When the senior journalist pushed Sushant further and implied that the actor should be knowing about the issue, the actor got a bit irritated and replied, “Why is it so wrong? Should I ask you a few questions related to national interest? Would you know all the answers?”
When the reporter told the team that she didn’t have to respond to Rajput’s question since she was not a public figure, Sushant angrily said, “It is nowhere written that a public figure should know everything”.
On the ongoing debate started by actor Abhay Deol, about actors endorsing fairness cream, Sushant said, “It is inappropriate to endorse such products. As responsible actors, or responsible citizens we should not in anyways endorse or prefer one skin tone over another.”
Directed by Dinesh Vijan and starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon, Raabta will be released on June 9, 2017.
