Bollywood diva Sushmita Sen, 42, speaking at an event in Mumbai recalled an incident where a 15-year-old boy misbehaved with her. Narrating that incident, she also said that women must learn some form of self-defence.
She said, “So many times people think what do I know what happens with women in our country. People feel we have bodyguards, protection and so many facilities. Let me tell you when you’ve eve teased by two people, we women in the public eye even with 10 bodyguards are dealing with hundreds of men that have often managed to misbehave with us. We know how exactly it happens in this country, in volumes. Six months back, a 15-year-old boy misbehaved with me at an awards function. He thought I wouldn’t have come to know, as there were so many men around me.”
She continued, “I grabbed his hand. I was so shocked to see this young boy! Typically for misbehaviour like that, I could’ve taken lots of other options. But because he was so young, I held him around his neck from behind, as if to say a hello. Amidst the crowd, I took him for a walk. I then told him that if I make a hue and cry about it right now, his life would be over!”
She concluded by saying, “He started defending himself. I told him sternly that he had misbehaved. I asked him to acknowledge his act with all honestly. He then apologised. I told him to not to repeat his mistake and asked him to leave.”
