Telecaller posing as Paytm employee dupes Nagpur woman of Rs 99k

A 38-year-old woman from Nagpur was duped of Rs 99,069 recently by a telecaller, who claimed to be from Paytm. On the basis of a complaint filed by the woman named Archana Shriram Sharma, Ajni Police has registered a case against the unidentified caller.

As per the police, on February 16, 2020, Sharma got a call from the number 6289934519. The caller told Sharma that he was calling her to get her KYC procedure done for Paytm. Sharma was then told to share 4-5 OTPs received on her number. When Sharma shared the OTPs with the caller, her ICICI bank account was debited by Rs 99,069.

A case under section 420 of the IPC and section 66(D) of the IT Act has been registered against the unidentified caller.
