In a yet another gruesome act, four truck drivers gang-raped a 25-year-old woman, an employee of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) at Umred in Nagpur district on Tuesday afternoon (August 14, 2018). The drivers brutally thrashed her and also pierced her eyes with a blunt object. The horrific incident took place after the employee, who was working at a weigh bridge, headed towards a makeshift toilet made of bamboo. The survivor was the only female employee working at the site where the incident took place. However, it has been said that the accused were under the influence of alcohol.

The survivor, who was earlier rushed to a private hospital in Umred, was later admitted to Orange City Hospital & Research Institute. When Nation Next spoke to Bhojraj Zade from police station at Umred, he said, “While two out of four accused have been put behind bars, the other two still remain absconding. The survivor remains critical.”

A reliable source told Nation Next, “The survivor is critical as her face has been smashed and her eyes have been pierced with a blunt object. Also, she has multiple facial fractures and her scalp is seriously injured.”
