Two city youngsters lost their lives on Sunday as they drowned in the wave pool at the Krazy Castle Aqua Park situated in Ambazari, Nagpur. The incident took place in the afternoon at around 1 pm.
Along with the two youngsters many other people were stuck in the artificial waves at the pool. While others survived, Akshay Bind (19) – a resident of Mahal and Sagar Sahastrabuddhe (20) – a resident of Mecosabagh – lost their lives. Another youngster Snehal Motghare (22), is said to be critical and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
As per a report in a leading daily, many of them who survived the waves in the pool were saved by Rutuj Deo and Yash Bharadwaj – friends of the deceased Akshay Bind. Bharadwaj told the daily that as soon as the strong wave hit them, he along with his friends formed a human chain to save people. They could not, however, save Akshay, Sagar and Snehal. Akshay and Sagar were pronounced dead on arrival when they were taken to the hospital.
Post the incident, the District Administration has ordered immediate closure of Krazy Castle until further notice. It is to be noted that, the aqua park is already in the last days of its operation as the entire land of the aqua park is being taken over by NIT for providing it to Maha Metro.
Nagpur Mayor visited Krazy Castle after the tragic incident. She instructed the officials to take take strict action against the people responsible for the incident.
