On Thursday, a 20-year-old gang rape victim at Unnao in Bihar was allegedly set ablaze by the accused and four other men who were out on bail. The survivor suffered 90% burns as the five men, three out of whom have been arrested, had doused kerosene on her. The incident occurred when the survivor was on her way to court. In her statement to the police, the rape survivor said the accused first hit her on the head and attacked with a knife on the neck. As she slumped, they poured kerosene and set her on fire.

The survivor is now being treated at Lucknow Hospital. In her FIR registered in March this year, she accused Shivam Trivedi and Shubham Trivedi of sexually assaulting her on several occasions in 2018. The two were later arrested and sent to jail.

The survivor in her complaint had accused Shivam of taking her to Rae Bareli and sexually assaulting her on the pretext of marriage. After she pressurised him into getting married, she alleged that Shivam took her to the fields along with Shubham and raped her on gunpoint.
