Man gets Rs 128 crore electricity bill, loses connection for not paying it

    In a bizarre incident, a man from Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district was given an electricity bill of Rs 128,45,95,444 by the electricity department.

    In a bizarre incident, the electric connection at a man’s house in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district was cut off after he failed to pay an electricity bill of  Rs 128,45,95,444 served to him by electricity department.

    Shamin, who lives with his wife Khairu Nisha in Chamri village of Hapur district, told ANI that in spite of approaching the electricity regarding the glitch in the bill, the connection at his home was cut off. He said, “No one listens to our pleas, how will we submit that amount? When we went to complain about it, we were told that they won’t resume our electricity connection unless we pay the bill.”

    Shamin added, “I am running from pillar to post but no one is listening. It seems that the electricity department wants me to pay the bill for the whole Hapur.”

    Shamin’s wife Nisha said that the couple uses just a fan and a light at home. She said, “We only use fan and light. How can the amount be so high? We are poor. How we will pay such a large amount.”
