Upset over lack of work during lockdown, television actor Preksha Mehta (25), who acted in shows like Crime Patrol, Laal Ishq and Meri Durga, committed suicide at her residence in Indore on May 25. Preksha was found hanging from the ceiling fan by her family members.
As per reports, Preksha had travelled to her in Indore from Mumbai before the lockdown was announced. She was reportedly depressed because of lack of work because of lockdown. The police have recovered a suicide note.
Preksha’s cousin, while speakign to a leading daily, said, “She (Preksha) was a vibrant girl since childhood but she had become very quiet lately. On May 25, the family was playing cards but Preksha was sitting alone on the steps of the house. My aunt (Preksha’s mother) asked Preksha if she was okay but she replied that she was fine. Around 10 pm, Preksha went to her room upstairs and posted a message on her Instagram account. The message read: ‘Sabse bura hota hai, sapnon ka mar jaana (Death of the dreams is the worst thing to happen)’. The next morning when my aunt went to wake her up for yoga, she found her room locked from inside and called others to help open the door. When they finally managed to knock it open, they found Preksha hanging from the ceiling fan.”
Rajeev Bhadoriya from Hira Nagar Police Station in Indore, said, “As per preliminary investigation, it comes across that Preksha was suffering from depression. We are carrying out a detailed investigation in this case.”
