Senior Congress leader in Maharashtra and former Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil submitted his resignation to Assembly Speaker Haribhau Bagade as the MLA of Congress party on Tuesday. Speculations are rife that 10 more Congress MLAs are likely to follow into his footsteps.

Patil in March had quit as the leader of Opposition after his son Sujay quite the Congress to join BJP. Sujay won the Lok Sabha polls this year by a margin if almost 2.81 lakhs from Ahmednagar in Maharashtra.

Patil said,  “I didn’t even campaign for the party during Lok Sabha elections. I don’t doubt High Command, they had given me an opportunity by making me the Leader of Opposition. I tried to do good work but situation made me resign.”
