Indian cricket team’s coach Ravi Shastri said that whatever one reads in the media about Virat and MS Dhoni might not be true. He said that Virat and MS Dhoni share a lot of mutual respect and their relation is fantastic. Shastri said the same after receiving the ‘Maharashtracha Abhiman’ award during the ‘Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Awards 2018 in Mumbai.
Shastri, speaking about skipper MS Dhoni, said, “MS is a legend who can remain unfazed in any situation. Whether he scores a zero or a hundred or whether he wins the World Cup with a six, he is the same,” Shastri said.
Speaking about whether the two ace cricketers ever had any differences, Shastri said, “Virat will seek Dhoni’s advice. Such communication is tremendous from the team point of view.”
Shastri also shared that he and Kohli are pretty aggressive and competitive. Shastri said that he’s had similar mindset like that of Kohli’s during his playing days.
The Indian coach told Economic Times, “I see a lot of myself in Virat. Our mindsets are pretty similar, we are pretty aggressive, and we like to compete. And when someone has a mindset and the work ethic like Virat’s, it is bound to rub off on the other players of the team, and that’s is why India is having a great run at the moment.”
