Bihar: A healthcare worker allegedly raped a woman who was admitted in the Coronavirus isolation ward at a medical college at Gaya in Bihar for two days. The incident took place at Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH). The 25-year-old woman died on April 6 at her residence due to excessive bleeding. She had undergone abortion at Ludhiana when she was two months pregnant.

After getting admitted in emergency ward on March 27 due to excessive bleeding, she was relocated to an isolation ward as doctors suspected her of being infected with COVID-19. Her family members alleged that a doctor attending her in the isolation ward raped for two successive nights – on April 2 and 3.

The next day, she was discharged from the hospital after she tested COVID-19 negative. Her mother-in-law told Deccan Herald, “However, after returning home, she remained aloof and struck by fear. On questioning, she revealed how a doctor had sexually abused her in the isolation ward.”
