The district administration of Buldhana (located in the Amravati division) in Maharashtra is giving a chance to seven bright girls from zilla parishad schools to be the ‘Collector for a day.’ The initiative, in the backdrop of International Women’s Day 2020, that began on Monday and would end on Sunday (March 8, 2020).

The seven-day initiative tagged as ‘Pink Week’ aims at focusing on women’s health. Buldhana Collector Suman Chandra said, “A woman in the pink of health will also help keep the society in the pink of health.”

Poonam Deshmukh, a student of class eight, was made the collector for a day on Monday. Deshmukh took stock of the unseasonal rainfall in the district. Yogita Magar, a class nine student from GP High School, was made the collector for the day on Tuesday.

Class nine student Maria, who also got the same opportunity, would attend a census meeting and understand how the census is conducted. Also, she’ll oversee the training programme of census activities.
