Youth sentenced to prison for 10 years for raping minor boy in Nagpur

A 24-year-old youngster was sentenced to prison for 10 years by the court on Friday (February 15, 2019) for raping a 14-year-old minor boy multiple times in 2014 in Nagpur.

The judgement in the case (108/2014) also requires the youngster, Vicky Arvind Damkondwar, to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 or face another six months in prison. The court found Damkondwar as a culprit under section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and section 377 of the IPC.

In April 2014, Damkondwar was arrested by Nandanvan Police on the basis of a complaint filed by the minor boy’s mother Vibha P Ingle. As per the complaint, the accused, who lived in the same neighbourhood as the boy, from April 11 to April 25, 2014, showed indecent and vulgar video clips on his mobile phone to the minor and then took take him to various places and raped him multiple times.

The charge sheet was filed in the court by investigating officer PSI SM Yawle. While the government pleader on the case was Advocate Asawasi Palsodkar, Damkondwar was represented by Advocate Ram Masurke.
